AGRICULTURE

ABOUT US

The North Willamette Research and Extension Center (NWREC), is the most agriculturally diverse of these facilities based on the number of commercial agricultural crops they work with. Located on 160 acres in Clackamas County near Aurora, just 20 miles from downtown Portland and one mile south of the city’s urban growth boundary — it is the only agricultural research center serving the Willamette Valley — in the heart of Oregon’s most productive farming region.

The research and outreach conducted at NWREC supports Berry Crops, Christmas Trees, Nurseries and Greenhouses, Orchard Crops and Tree Fruits, Metro Small Farms Extension, the Pesticide Registration Research Program, Vegetable and Specialty Seeds Crops, Field Crops, the Organic Extension Program — and our latest initiative, Agrivoltaics. NWREC faculty share their cutting-edge research through OSU Extension programs, field days, workshops and classes offered to the farming community and the public.

NWREC reopened to the public on January 3, 2022 and we are now scheduling public meetings and educational programs, classes and workshops.
