Small Farm School Marks Fourteen Years of Farmer Education
Small Farm School returned to the Clackamas Community College campus for its 14th year, bringing together 308 participants for a full day of hands-on and classroom-based agricultural learning. The 2025 program featured 34 workshops, 27 exhibitors, and three panel discussions on agroforestry, land access, and nonprofit farming models. Additional popular sessions focused on herbalism, mushroom cultivation, seed saving, cover cropping, and cut flower production.
A new sliding scale registration model expanded accessibility. More than half of attendees paid a reduced rate, and nearly 10 percent elected to contribute above the standard fee. Support from 20 sponsors, including the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District, made this approach possible.
Hosted by the Clackamas County Extension Small Farms Program in partnership with Clackamas Community College, Friends of Family Farmers, Rogue Farm Corps, and Zenger Farm, Small Farm School continues to strengthen local food systems and provide practical, research-based education for small-scale producers.
