The Good News About Forest Insects

Lady Bugs are predatory insects that help control pests.

Tree-killing insects made headlines in 2018, but the good news is that forests are home for many species of beneficial insects. These include bees and other pollinators along with predatory insects such as ladybugs that help control pests.

OSU Extension Service is helping landowners learn more about the role of beneficial insects in their woodlands and how to manage for them. Classes at Tree School show how to grow good insect habitat. Field workshops and client consultations illustrate methods of “farmscaping” for beneficial insects incorporated in woodlands and Christmas Tree farms.
