Clackamas County 4-Hers shine on the national stage
How many young people can claim to be a national expert? This year, 10 Clackamas County 4-H members demonstrated that they have the knowledge and skills to hold their own at the national level.
Madeline Fleck and Julia Brown represented Oregon at the 4-H Family and Consumer Sciences National Championship in San Antonio, Texas. They were two of the four members of the 4th place Consumer Decision Making team. They compared products’ features and price and defended their buying decisions to a judge.
The Oregon 4-H Communications team travelled to Kentucky for the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup. The team members were Finnley Barnett (Individual Presentation– 5th place), Harper Sohlman and Sydney Hudson (Team Presentation) and Cassidy Mohr (Public Speaking – Champion). Coach Jaime Hudson praised the team for their grit, bravery, and growth.
Four youth participated in the Poultry Judging contest at the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Mikey Breum, Ethan Cannon-Ziolko, Collin Spurgeon, and Harlow Waverly evaluated poultry meat, eggs, and live birds using official USDA standards.
